ANTI WRINKLE INJECTIONS
Anti-wrinkle injections are used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the facial muscles that cause dynamic lines when you smile or frown. Plateau Medispa stocks both Allergen and Galderma cosmetic injectable products.
ANTI WRINKLE FAQ'S
A medicated product made from a natural purified protein (“Botulinum Toxin”) is injected in to the selected muscles, interfering with neural transmission between the brain and the muscle. This means that when your brain is telling your face to frown or squint, the muscle can’t receive the message and won’t contract (preventing the formation of wrinkles).
The product affects only the specifically targeted muscles.
The required dose for the treatment is tailored according to the individual patient, the desired outcome and the mass of muscle being injected. The dosages required may change over time if the treatment is performed regularly.
Anti wrinkle injections are a very well tolerated treatment. The needles used for cosmetic injections have a super fine diameter, so they’re not very intrusive and far less painful than most other types of injections. Small ice packs are often used on the treatment area to disrupt pain and in some cases a numbing agent can be applied.
Due to the lack of medical research done on the topic, it is best to err of the side of caution and not have anti wrinkle injections during pregnancy. The same is recommended while breastfeeding, as it is unclear if the product can make its way into the breast milk.
Initial effects are usually seen within 1-2 days but the full result of the treatment will generally not be seen until 10-14 days post-procedure. Results typically last 3 months.
Anti-wrinkle injections are not an exact science and results may vary between patients and treatments.
Before receiving any cosmetic injections, you must be assessed to determine if you’re medically suitable for treatment. It is important that you disclose any medication that you are taking, any health conditions affecting your muscles or nerves or if you are known to have any allergies.
To be suitable candidate for anti wrinkle injections, you will be at least 18 years old, in good overall health and have realistic expectations of the treatment.
You may not be suitable for treatment if you have any disease that affects your nerves or muscles, have a skin infection in the treatment area, are currently pregnant, nursing or planning to become pregnant.
Immediately post-treatment, you can resume your normal daily activities however, as a general precaution, you should refrain from doing anything strenuous for one or two days. You should also avoid laser / IPL treatments, facials and facial massage for one to two weeks after the injections. This is to minimise the chance of the product moving to the surrounding muscles.
It is important to follow any post-treatment care instructions given to you by your injector.

Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are a non-surgical injectable treatment used to instantly add volume to correct and enhance facial contours and features. They are most often used to enhance the shape and volume of lips and smooth out and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and folds.
Dermal Filler Faq's
Temporary soft tissue fillers (“dermal fillers”) are made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the skin with powerful hydration and anti-ageing properties.
When injected skilfully just below the surface of the skin, dermal fillers instantly add volume to the targeted area and can be used to enhance, restore and shape facial features. The procedure is relatively quick with only minimal discomfort.
Dermal filler products are available in various viscosities to suit the indication being treated i.e. areas that require a more structural enhancement require a thicker, less malleable product while thinner fillers are used where softer features are required.
Dermal fillers are often used in conjunction with anti-wrinkle injections to achieve a harmonious rejuvenation of the face.

The results of the dermal fillers are instantly noticeable, with the full effect occurring within 48 hours.
Results typically last between 6 and 12 months before the effects of the dermal filler gradually weaken. The appearance of your skin will revert to its natural state unless further treatments are administered.
There may be swelling and bruising at the injection site although there is generally no downtime post-treatment with most patients able to return to normal activities immediately. Mild pain, tenderness and swelling as well as bruising at the injection site may be present for up to 14 days.
It is important to follow any post-treatment care instructions given to you by your injector.

Fat Dissolving Injections
This revolutionary non-surgical injectable treatment is used to eliminate stubborn fat cells that do not respond to diet or exercise. This first-of-its-kind injectable treatment destroys fat cells under the chin. Forever.
When injected into the fat beneath the chin, this specially formulated product destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
Fat Dissolving Injections FAQ's
Fat Dissolving injections use a synthetic form of Deoxycholic acid, a bile acid naturally produced by your body, to help absorb fat. Once injected, the acid destroys fat cells beneath the chin area so it can’t store fat anymore.
Before the procedure, the area to be treated is first sterilised and then marked out with a small grid so that the dose required can be accurately calculated and precisely injected. A topical numbing agent or ice pack will then be applied to ease any pain or discomfort. A series of 20 to 50 injections are used under the chin. The acid then works gradually to destroy fat cells, which are metabolised by the body over the following weeks.
The number of treatment sessions necessary varies between individuals. Multiple treatments might be needed to reach optimal results. You can receive up to six Fat Dissolving Injection treatments, with at least one month between each session.
You will need an initial two treatments performed 4 – 6 weeks apart, with each session requiring two vials of product. This is the minimum needed to see results however in some cases (depending on your goals and the amount of fat to be dissolved) you may require up to 6 treatments.
The majority of patients achieve their desired result after 4 treatments. We will work with you to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for the treatment and how many treatments are likely to be required.
Please note that with any cosmetic procedure, it is important to have realistic expectations. This is a non-surgical option which may not have the same overall result as liposuction and no guarantee can be made on the result.

Treatment with deoxycholic acid cannot be performed if you have an active infection in the treatment area.
It is important to inform our team if you have had surgery to the face/jaw/chin, previous cosmetic injectables, bleeding problems or are taking blood thinning medications (eg aspirin, warfarin). This treatment cannot be performed in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. Swelling may persist for up to 4-6 weeks after the treatment while the acid is working to dissolve the fat.
Other risks include trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness.
It is important to contact the clinic as soon as possible if you experience any adverse reaction after having a double chin treatment.
PDO Threading
Matrix Mono Threads are a type of single PDO filament. Matrix Mono Threads are inserted into the skin to achieve maximum collagen re-production. After entering the skin, the threads activate collagen synthesis for a gradual skin rejuvenation effect.
Matrix PDO Threads induce production of collagen, creating a tightening effect for 6 to 12 months after your procedure. The threads become a support structure for your face, allowing natural collagen production to take place treating neck sagginess, forehead lines, and facial wrinkles. The threads can also add volume to the cheeks. Over time the PDO will be fully absorbed by the body.
A consultation with one of our Registered Nurse is required prior to beginning to determine your requirements and suitability for PDO Threads.

The treatment is a very customised procedure, and our healthcare professionals will work closely with you in order to achieve optimal results. Also worth noting is that Matrix PDO Thread treatments don‘t involve any sort of incision, meaning stitches are not required.
You will begin to see results in 6 weeks which continue to improve over the next 2 to 6 months as new collagen is produced. Although the Matrix PDO Threads will slowly dissolve, you‘ll continue to see results for up to 12 months.
Sculptra
If you want to appear more youthful-looking — without appearing like you’ve had work done — then chances are Sculptra may be a good choice for you.
Sculptra helps restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin to diminish facial wrinkles. Sculptra works with your body within the deep dermis to help revitalise collagen production and help restore your skin’s inner structure and volume.
Sculptra may stimulate collagen growth which helps to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds over time.
sculptra FAQ's
SCULPTRA ADDRESSES AN UNDERLYING CAUSE OF FACIAL AGEING, NOT JUST THE SYMPTOMS
Not All Anti-Aging Treatments Are the Same:
Collagen creams: Collagen creams do not fully penetrate to the dermis, so most topical treatments are effective as moisturisers that briefly improve the skin’s appearance.
Collagen Supplements: When ingested, the digestive system breaks down collagen proteins and their effectiveness remains inconclusive.
Anti Wrinkle Injections: Anti wrinkle temporarily weaken muscles to minimise fine lines and wrinkles. Results typically last a couple months.
As a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator, Sculptra helps restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin to diminish facial wrinkles. Sculptra works with your body within the deep dermis to help revitalise collagen production and help restore your skin’s inner structure and volume.
As the Sculptra PLLA microparticles are absorbed, they help stimulate collagen production. Rebuilt collagen strands begin gradually helping to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds.

SLOW AND STEADY STRENGTH
Sculptra is made with biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body and helps to rebuild lost collagen through a series of treatments administered by a trained specialist.
The specialist injects treatment into the appropriate dermal plane where strands of collagen support your skin’s structure. Over time, Sculptra helps the body reproduce lost collagen.
The number of injection appointments and the number of injections per appointment vary from person to person, depending on how much collagen has been lost. On average, three injection appointments are needed over a period of a few months.
Sculptra should be injected into the appropriate plane. Superficial injections may be associated with small bumps and larger lumps under the skin in the treated area. In a clinical study, a few subjects reported these bumps and lumps, but none of these events were reported as serious adverse events by the investigator.

Though allergy testing is not required prior to treatment, you should not use Sculptra if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. You should also not use the product when you have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area, or if you have a history or susceptibility to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring.
Sweat Free Injections
Sweating is an important natural function of the human skin however, excessive sweating can have a significant negative impact on what you wear, how you feel and what you do. Simple injections of muscle relaxant medication can help treat the symptoms of severe sweating.
Sweat Free injections FAQ's
Excessive sweating (or hyperhidrosis) is quite common – affecting up to 3% of the population – and can occur in the underarms, hands, feet and sometimes other areas.
North Coast Medispa offers an effective treatment of excessive sweating with injections of Botulinum Toxin (the same prescribed medication as used in anti-wrinkle injections).
The injections block the output of the sweat glands, and can improve the problem significantly.
Treatment is simple, with several small injections of the Botulinum Toxin being placed superficially into the skin at the sites where the sweating comes from. Most people tolerate the injections well however we can apply local anaesthetic cream prior to the injections to minimise the discomfort.
Before receiving any injections, you must be assessed to determine if you’re medically suitable for treatment. It is important that you disclose any medication that you are taking, any health conditions affecting your muscles or nerves or if you are known to have any allergies.
To be suitable candidate for sweat free injections, you will be at least 18 years old, in good overall health and have realistic expectations of the treatment.
